urface Geochemistry, using samples obtained by Piston Core apparatus and heat flow measurements of the Sea bottom sediments, is the most cost-effective exploration tool in frontier deep and ultra deep water areas. The objective is to evaluate individual exploration leads and prospects using a Petroleum System approach. IPEX is a world leader in data acquisition and their analysis, processing and interpretation of surface petroleum anomalies, which, integrated with geological and geophysical data, help in selecting the areas with potential for oil and gas accumulations in deep offshore areas.

Geochemical and microbial analyses of surface and near-surface sea bottom sediments can detect the presence of hydrocarbon seeps and micro-seeps, identifying the occurrence of an active petroleum system in the area. Oil and gas seeps are of great significance to the modern offshore petroleum exploration indicating the presence of generative hydrocarbon source rocks, fundamental for the existence of oil and gas accumulations. When these data are integrated with seismic, geologic and high-resolution geochemical technology data, the result is critical to support successful exploration programs, reducing therefore the hydrocarbon exploration risk.

IPEX together with Fulgro-OceansatPeg perform heat flow analysis using the most uptodate probe and software available in the market.
