Prospect Definition

Prospect definition is the paramount task for the IPEX geologists and geophysicists.

The methodology applied by IPEX to define a prospect is a multidisciplinary approach. It starts from a selection of leads in the area of interest using 2D, 3D seismic data integrated with gravimetric and magnetometric information. The trapping structure of each lead is characterized by using PSDM seismic data, calibrated with geological and well information. The evaluation of reservoir and sealing rocks quality comes from a careful analysis from well and sedimentological and petrophysical data. The source rock generation and migration is evaluated by means of petroleum system modeling bounded by good calibration data, combined with geochemical analysis of available source rocks and oils in the catchment area.

The IPEX and Stratageo professionals have been performing prospect evaluations in several basins around Latin America and West Africa in which economic evaluation and exploration risk assessment are performed in detail.
