Ipex has been carrying out, in partnership with CGGVeritas and Stratageo, for the last year, a very comprehensive and detailed compositional 3D petroleum system evaluation of the Pre-Salt sequences in the Greater Campos Basin (Campos, Santos and Espírito Santo Basins). The modeling was built using the best 2D and 3D seismic data ever acquired in the study area (e.g. data from CGGVeritas) calibrated with the most complete well, source rock, oil and gas, and reservoir data set available in the Brazilian marginal basins (IPEX BrazilGeodata).
IPEX technical expertise in pre-salt exploration includes the knowledge of a group of geoscientists that has been working in this area for the last 20 years. The main challenges for the understanding the Pre-Salt system are the stratigraphy framework of the rift and sag phases and the control of the structural geometry of the reservoir and source rock layers beneath the salt sequence. Additionally, it is critical to quantify the role of the salt in the thermal history evolution of the basin. Preliminary results indicate liquid hydrocarbon resources over 50 billion bbl, mainly controlled by a NE-SW structural basement trend.
IPEX is prepared to provide integrated basin studies and 3D compositional modeling in any block of the Greater Campos Basin, considering the mechanical and thermal behavior of the salt through time.
