Ipex produces facies maps based on seismic-stratigraphic interpretation and geostatistical methods. In basins with sufficient well data, geostatistical methods such as kriging and co-kriging oriented by the anisotropic ellipse are applied to build facies maps.
IPEX's expertise and large knowledge about the geology of the Brazilian basins is crucial for the geological coherence of the facies maps, their lateral and vertical anisotropies and, most important, the integration of the facies maps, of all the elements of the petroleum system (e.g. source, reservoir and sealing rocks) within the geological model of the Basin. In summary, the accuracy of the facies maps is a key element for building the data input of the 3D basin modeling (e.g. PETROMOD).
