Ipex risk exploratory analysis is based on the presence and quantification of the elements and processes of petroleum systems. IPEX applies two methods:
- Integration of presence and quality of reservoir, trap seismic definition, seal, source rock generation and timing. The risk is evaluated for each stratigraphic level of the targets or by target combinations, in this order of ideas. The final risk depends on the exploratory strategy of each petroleum company
- The IES Petromod software which integrates and simulates the weight of the presence of important elements of the petroleum systems: source and reservoir rocks, fluids (water, oil, condensate and gas) and processes such as generation, migration, accumulation and preservation. Also, this system considers the interplay of source rock generation and migration time with trap formation, which is critical for the characterization of the filling history and hydrocarbon preservation.
