Reservoir geochemistry is one of the most important methodologies for better understanding the history of reservoir filling and/or its compartmentalization, creating strategies for the production and development of oil fields.
In the last four years IPEX together with its partner Biomarker Technology have applied Reservoir Geochemistry in several oil field studies around Brazil and Latin America.
Reservoir and production geochemistry is the best and most inexpensive way to:
- Predict oil properties (e.g. gravity, sulfur content, waxiness) in a well and/or oilfield prior to production testing
- Determine reservoir compartmentalization and continuity
- Determine fluid compositional heterogeneity and its chemical and physical characteristics inside a single oil reservoir
- Monitoring secondary recovery (e.g. steam, water , CO2 and N2 floods)s
- Allocate production from various zones within a well
